GOALS AND DESTINATIONS
Did you know that some of the most impactful treatments for mental health symptoms involve curating your own hopes, dreams?
Did you know that taking action on achieving your goals is a tremendous mood booster and helps to ease anxieties?

You should also know that while the end result is certainly helpful, the magic and medicine is mostly found in your own experience of going through the process of change.

I will be sharing important information about this below, along with other important information you should know about working with me on your mental health, managing medications to help, and other general instructions and information that are very important for your treatment plan.
Please take the time to read each section carefully and follow the instructions for optimal mental health and wellness.

SAFETY
It must always come first.
If you are having any thoughts of hurting yourself or other people, you will need emergency care in a mental health crisis center. This may be a local outpatient mental health center that has a crisis program, or your local emergency room. If you cannot get yourself there safely, call 911 for assistance.

If you are having concerns about serious side effects of medications, you may also need to seek urgent or emergency care. Review the information that comes with your medication(s) for information on potential side effects, pregnancy risk, or breast feeding concerns of your specific medications and act accordingly.
-You can look here for information about your medication https://www.nami.org/About-Mental-Illness/Treatments/Mental-Health-Medications
-Supplement information https://www.webmd.com/vitamins/index
-You can enter all medications you take here and check for interactions https://www.webmd.com/interaction-checker/default.htm

If you do not understand the information and need advice, reach out to your prescriber and pharmacist or seek care immediately if your concerns are urgent.

If you are having intrusive thoughts of harming yourself, but feel safe and know that you will not take action on this, you can contact The National Suicide Lifeline for support at 988.
AFTER you seek this emergency care and get immediate emergency help, please always send me an urgent message on TherapyAppointment so that we can move your next appointment ASAP. And I can help to provide follow up care and coordination as well.

Here is a blog post on safety, suicidal thoughts and self harming that may help. So if you are experiencing these and don't need emergency help, please read this.

COMMUNICATION
They say it is key for a good reason.
Reach out to me any time if you have any questions, concerns, or problems.

We can often discuss your concerns during your regular visits with me. And I have normal business hours during the weekdays when these inquiries are typically addressed.

But, if you have an urgent matter it should not wait until your next appointment. Sometimes it should not even wait until the next business day. Always communicate with me in a timely manner to be sure that urgent matters are dealt with right away for your own safety.

You should always communicate with me through a patient portal messaging system whenever possible. These systems have extra levels of security for the privacy of your health information.

If you have an urgent matter, please ALSO send me a text or leave a voicemail with your full name spelled out, and your date of birth, to let me know only that you need to speak urgently. For example, "This is Sally Brown birthdate July 7th 1978. I sent an urgent message to you on the portal. Please get back to me ASAP."

Do not leave your private health information on email, texting, voicemail, or any other method of communication that is not secure.

APPOINTMENTS
What to expect during our time together
During our visits we will discuss your concerns and symptoms and develop and refine your treatment plan together. I will send your prescriptions if any are needed. And we will also schedule your next appointment with me and any co-pays or self-pay charges will be processed. For additional information on appointments, please read this blog post

MANIFESTING
Hopes and dreams are medicinal
Manifesting your dreams may be one of the most impactful ways to boost your mental health.
This very powerful way to feel better involves having goals, a purpose, passions, and to be checking achievable tasks off your list. While this is true, sometimes our symptoms are so severe that we are unable to get started on things like this. Read my blog post below for more information on how to do this. And if you find that you need more help, go ahead and try this. But also make sure that you stay in close contact with your nurse practitioner and therapist for extra support and assistance.
